Your own home-made shampoo? Why not? A shampoo made on your own and the one bought in a cosmetic shop will work pretty alike. Obviously, your home-made shampoo will lack of any possible detergents or SLS yet contains only natural and ecological ingredients. So what should be collected in order to prepare your own cosmetic for washing hair? It goes without saying that the ingredients will vary accordingly to the type of scalp and hair you have. What is more, you have to take into account and meet your hair needs. For that reason, you will have to visit a pharmacy, a herbal shop or the one with organic food. Below, you are going to find two recipes for home-made shampoos.
Regenerating Shampoo Recipe
Collect the following ingredients: 10 ml coconut and almond oil, 5 ml jojoba and evening primrose oil and 5 drops of chamomile and rosemary oils. When you manage to find all the ingredients, take a big pot and fill it with water. Then, take a smaller pot and place it inside the one with water. In such a way, you create a kind of water bath, due to which, you will be able to melt the coconut oil safely. Next, you can add jojoba and evening primrose oils, and mix these precisely. When the mixture cools down, add 5 drops each of rosemary and chamomile oil. Now, you can wash the hair with your own shampoo whenever you need to cleanse your scalp. For the best results, the cosmetic has to be rinsed after around 30 minutes.
Protein Shampoo Recipe
You will prepare the cosmetic using two ingredients only, lukewarm water and 3-4 spoons of rye flour. All you need to do is mix these substances in such a way to create a kind of liquid pap. The cosmetic has to be applied on damp hair, massage into scalp and rinse with warm water after a few minutes. Worth realizing, rye flour nourishes hair and scalp because it contains protein as well as B and PP vitamins.
A few words about shampoos
Shampoo can be referred to a washing agent containing liquid soap, foaming substances and fragrances. Basically, the word ‘shampoo’ originates from Persian and Hindu language and stands for hair massage with the use of herbal infusions. But do you know what is hidden in the present-day shampoos? On the one hand, these comprise of many nourishing substances, but on the other hand, the same cosmetics contain ingredients that may easily irritate skin. One of those substances in infamous SLS – Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. What is more, shampoos are composed also of detergent, so a washing agent which has a form of either potassium soap or amic soap solution dissolved in water. Furthermore, buffer solutions are yet another substances hidden in a shampoo. These are responsible for controlling reactions of hair washing agents. Moreover, we can find also fragrances and conditioning substances, such as glossing and antistatic substances. Last but not least, substances included in each shampoo’s composition are emulsifiers, that facilitate the consistency of the solution as well as medicines like sulphide and zinc. Generally, these are present in anti-dandruff shampoos because these are characterized by anti-bacterial working.
