Lately, we can observe that chemist’s shelves have become occupied with a new kind of a cosmetic – serum. Is it equally effective as our well-known face creams? Let us examine, what is the difference between a cream and a serum. We are also going to take a closer look at a concentrate, another cosmetic of similar features to the above-mentioned care products. And which one of these cosmetics is the best one?

Let us start with a cream. It goes without saying, that this kind of a cosmetic is a must-have of our everyday skin care. What is more, a cream has to match our skin needs, its type and actual condition. Furthermore, creams are characterized with more dense consistency. For that reason, these products are better at protecting and nourishing skin during day and night. Some creams are enriched in sun protection filters, due to which, these are powerful enough to counteract all sun-induced pigmentation marks, also known as hyperpigmentation marks, and wrinkles. Another thing to mention, creams can be divided accordingly to the particular concerns, for example, skin type that they are designed for (acne, mature, sensitive, dry, normal, etc.) or time of application (day or night). What is more, the season also determines form of a cream. To clarify, during the winter, it is advised to apply products of oily consistency whereas light, delicate and sheer cosmetics should be used during the summer.

When it comes to concentrates, these products contain the most numerous amount of nourishing and active substances. Basically, this kind of a cosmetic is known to some of us as an ampoule. Such products are used mainly in professional beauty parlours or SPA salons for ultrasound treatments and mesotherapy. What makes this kind of product different from other similar ones, is the manner of application. In most cases, concentrates are introduced directly deep into dermis, due to which, all the active substances can work fast and efficiently.

Now a brief summary of a serum. In general, this cosmetic is destined for renewal of skin cells. Although it has light texture, a serum contains much more nourishing substances than a regular face cream. What is more, serum is available mostly in two versions: gel and foam. Basically, serum treatment produces prompt effects, despite that the complete course of it is expected to last approximately a month. In most cases, this cosmetic has a form of an eyelash serum, an under eye serum or a fingernail serum. Working of such products focus mainly on one particular problem such as nourishment, wrinkles smoothing, skin tautening or regeneration.
